Destination Colorado: Wellness Getaways

January 2, 2025

With wellness top of mind for many of us at the start of the year, it’s an ideal time to book a getaway to align mind, body, and soul.

Colorado has a wealth of destinations to realign and relax, from Colorado Springs to the Vail Valley to near Aspen and beyond.

The Broadmoor Spa – Colorado Springs

Open since 1918, the iconic Broadmoor Resort has a history of luxury. With 784 rooms and 100 suites, this sprawling property also boasts a spa that’s been awarded five stars by the Forbes Travel Guide.

Before your treatment, relax in the dry saunas with Pink Himalayan Salt Walls, eucalyptus steam rooms, oxygen rooms, or fireplace lounges. Signature treatments include the Ginger Lime Awakening, Almond Orange Scrub and Massage, or High-Altitude Mud Wrap. A full service salon and fitness center round out the offerings.

Game, Set, Match! If you’re interested in tennis or pickleball, the Broadmoor has been named one of the top 25 destinations in the U.S. It has three cushioned hard courts, two Har-Tru courts, and three dedicated pickleball courts. During the winter season, two of the hard courts are covered by a lit, heated bubble.

Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch – Beaver Creek

In the gorgeous surroundings of Bachelor Gulch, the Ritz-Carlton offers direct ski-in, ski-out access to over 2,000 acres in Beaver Creek. With luxurious rooms, penthouses, and suites, this is an ideal destination whether you’re ready to get first tracks on a powder day or relax fireside after a massage.

The 21,000-square foot Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch Spa has 19 treatment rooms and a variety of options including the Miner’s Mineral Mud Wrap, Oxygen Hydration Facial, and Riverstone Massage. Take advantage of a complimentary fitness class or workout in the slopeside fitness, yoga, and pilates studios. Outdoor heated pools and whirlpools are open year round and a perfect way to end the day after mountain adventure.

Additional amenities include the Grotto, a Himalayan Salt Wall Dry Sauna, a Steam Room, a Cold Plunge, and a Whirlpool which all guests can enjoy during their stay. Transportation to Beaver Creek Village is complimentary via the Village Connect app, and Beaver Creek hosts a wide array of family-friendly activities from weekly fireworks to seasonal festivals as well as shopping and dining.

St. Regis Spa – Aspen

With a stunning location in the Roaring Fork Valley, Aspen is known for its world-class skiing and nightlife, but it’s also a hotspot for wellness.

The RAKxa Wellness Spa, located within the St. Regis, combines ancient wisdom with organic ingredients for healing treatments. Get ready for an event with the Dr Levy Red Carpet Facial or enjoy a Thai tension release massage or a Seven Chakra Hot Stone Massage to sooth tired muscles after a day of skiing or snowshoeing the surrounding peaks.

The St. Regis also offers the show-stopping sabering of a champagne bottle to celebrate the transition from day to night, which originated when John Jacob Astor IV founded the first St. Regis Hotel in New York.

After a day of skiing Aspen’s slopes, retire to the welcoming suites and residences at the St. Regis with 400-thread-count Frette linens and spacious marble bathrooms. The St. Regis Butler Service is the ultimate amenity, available around the clock for anything guests need.

Dunton Hot Springs – Dolores

For a luxurious destination off the beaten path, Dunton Hot Springs is a gorgeous place for a getaway. Located in an 1800’s ghost town near Telluride, this resort in the San Juan Mountains offers lodging in historic log cabins that have been restored with upscale amenities at every turn.

Soak in the natural springs that are rich in calcium bicarbonate and other minerals. The springs range from 85°F to 106° and there are multiple places to soak: inside the restored 19th-century Bathhouse, under the stars at the source, in the pool outside the Bathhouse, or in the pool behind the Dunton Store cabin, and inside the Well House cabin.

Snowshoe, cross-country ski or take a ride on the Dunton Snowcat before returning for a spa treatment, such as the Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage, Hot Stone Massage, or Hydration Facial.

With its gorgeous location and access to hot springs, this is a destination to remember.

St Julien Hotel & Spa – Boulder

In downtown Boulder, the St. Julien Hotel & Spa has beautiful views of the iconic flatirons as well as an ideal location to stroll to Pearl Street for dining and shopping or access Boulder’s many hiking and biking trails.

Guests of the hotel and spa receive access to the steam room, sauna, pool, hot tub and fitness center to enjoy either before or after treatments. Select from the Phytomer Customized Facial, Colorado Bliss Deep Tissue Massage, or Elements of Purification Body Wrap.

Located within the hotel, Jill’s Restaurant and Bistro has been awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Nosh on dishes with ingredients from local farms, creameries and ranches as well as the hotel’s own garden.

Whether your travels take you to a southwestern Colorado ghost town, the snow-capped peaks of Bachelor Gulch, or the bustling town of Boulder, there are plenty of wellness destinations to enjoy.
